Some of you may have attended the 2020 August Wilson Monologue Competition (AWMC) regional finals at Seattle Rep back in February. We had a thrilling night of cheering on teens from all over the state as they competed for the chance to make it to the national finals in New York City and perform their monologues at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway.
We had hoped to showcase our winning finalists Asmian Obanion-White (Rainier Beach High School) and Cassidy Huff (Mt. Rainier High School) in preparation for the national competition this weekend, but it was recently canceled due to public health concerns. National program leaders have created a virtual celebration for finalists to perform for each other, attend panels with renowned artists, and more.
Before she heads into the virtual events this weekend, hear what one of our finalists, Cassidy, has to say about her experience in the AWMC in a one-on-one interview.
