One Thousand Books for One Thousand Dreams

Through February 11, 2024

This winter, Seattle Rep is partnering with WashMasks Mutual Aid in their #OneThousandBooksforOneThousandDreams donation drive for the children and youth of Washington farmworkers. The first one thousand books shall go to the Lower Yakima Valley (only 300 left to meet this goal!) and the next one thousand books will go to the Skagit Valley and Whatcom farm working communities.

Washington's phenomenal farm workers are behind nearly all we eat and drink. They are the hands that make that our favorite rainy-day soup or chilled drink on a hot afternoon possible. Let us come together as a community to show our gratitude to those who feed us. All proceeds of sales from WashMasks’ wishlist goes towards Estelita’s Library: Justice Focused Community Bookstore & Library.

Why these books?
"We selected these works in an effort to show children themselves as the main character in their own story. We wanted to select inclusive works, from the fantastical to the grounded written by Black, Indigenous, and Latine authors. We believe that it is vital for children to be exposed to as many different realities and possibilities so they can dream their biggest dreams." —Quetzie Taborga-Reyes (they/them), WashMasks Volunteer and book list curator
