Improv for Wellness Drop-In Sessions

Experience a holistic, beginner friendly, accessible approach to the art form of Improv! With a focus on building a community based in play and self-worth, this weekly drop-in series will teach us to unleash our creativity without judgement, develop tools for self-empowerment, and embrace our inner artistry all while learning the tenets of Improv.
For ages adults, ages 16 and up.
May 17, 24, and June 7, 14, 21, and 28
Led by Teague M. Parker of Come Up Productions, the Improv for Wellness series combines established wellness practices, Improvisation, and theater techniques to help students learn the tools for self-empowerment across mind, body, and spirit both on and off the stage. Whether you're a dancer, singer, actor, painter, or just curious about learning to commit to your impulses, this is the perfect space to learn an accessible approach to Improv that can be applied to all aspects of life.
Participants will Learn:
- Building off the ideas / impulses of ourselves & others.

Foundational tenets of Improvisation (Curiosity Mindset / Performing Scenes / "Yes, And..").

Embodying our creative impulses through free writes and on our feet games / activities / scene work.
What To Expect:
Through playing with solo and group Improv activities, free writes, exercises, group discussions, and so much more, we will discover how to reclaim and expand our identities while gradually learning how to perform improv. By drawing upon our inherent creativity, we'll learn to commit to ourselves both on and offstage.
