Living Out
January 8 - 31, 2004
Bagley Wright Theater
Who cares for your children while you’re out making a living? In the affluent Westside neighborhood of Los Angeles, Nancy, an entertainment lawyer, hires Ana, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, as her baby’s nanny. But Ana has children of her own that need to be cared for. Everyone’s working overtime, and their struggle to maintain balance is both hilarious and heart-wrenching since both women desire to be good parents and have a very real need to hold down jobs. Capturing both the humor and terrors of parenthood, award-winning playwright Lisa Loomer provides no easy answers to complex issues that contemporary women face.
