Kwame Kwei-Armah is a British actor, playwright, director, and broadcaster. In 2018 he was made Artistic Director of the Young Vic, where he has directed Twelfth Night and Tree. From 2011 to 2018 he was previously the Artistic Director of Baltimore Center Stage where he directed: Jazz, Marley, One Night in Miami, Amadeus, Dance of the Holy Ghosts, The Mountaintop, An Enemy of the People, The Whipping Man, and Things of Dry Hours. Other work as a director includes: Tree (Manchester International Festival); Twelfth Night, Comedy of Errors, Much Ado About Nothing, Detroit ’67 (The Public Theater, New York); The Liquid Plain (Signature Theatre, New York, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival); Porgy and Bess (Baltimore Symphony Orchestra); the Olivier nominated One Night in Miami for Best New Play 2016 (Donmar Warehouse); and One Love (Birmingham Repertory Theatre).  

As a playwright his credits include Tree (Manchester International Festival, Young Vic); One Love (Birmingham Repertory Theatre); Beneatha’s Place (Baltimore Center Stage); Elmina’s Kitchen, Fix Up, Statement of Regret (National Theatre); Let There Be Love, Seize the Day (Tricycle Theatre).  

Kwame was Artistic Director for the Festival of Black Arts and Culture, Senegal, in 2010. He conceived and directed the opening ceremony at Senghor National Stadium. He was an Associate Director of the Donmar Warehouse and has served on the boards of the National Theatre, Tricycle Theatre, and Theatre Communications Group. Kwame was the Chancellor of the University of the Arts London from 2010 to 2015, and in 2012 was awarded an OBE for Services to Drama. 

In 2012, 2013, and 2014 Kwame was named Best Director in City Paper’s Best of Baltimore Awards and in 2015 was nominated for the prestigious Stage Directors and Choreographers Zelda Fichandler Award for Best Regional Artistic Director. In 2016 he was awarded the Urban Visionary Award alongside House Representative Elijah Cummings by the Center for Urban Families for his work in the Baltimore community. In 2019 he was the Chair of the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting. Kwame is a patron of Ballet Black and a visiting fellow of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University.

Shaina Taub is a Vermont-raised, Brooklyn-based songwriter and performer. She has the won the Jonathan Larson Grant, the Kleban Prize, the Fred Ebb Award, the Billie Burke Ziegfeld Award, and the ASCAP Lucille and Jack Yellen Award. Taub has starred in her musical adaptations of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and As You Like It at The Public Theater’s Delacorte in Central Park, commissioned and produced for their Public Works initiative. Both musicals are receiving current and upcoming productions regionally and around the world. She’s currently writing a musical about Alice Paul and the American women’s suffrage movement and she's writing lyrics for the upcoming Broadway musical of The Devil Wears Prada, with music by Sir Elton John. Taub’s work was featured in Lincoln Center’s American Songbook concert series and she recently made her Carnegie Hall debut performing her music with the New York Pops. She wrote the score for and co-starred in Bill Irwin and David Shiner's Old Hats, directed by Tina Landau at Signature Theatre and A.C.T. Her songs have been performed by Audra McDonald and Sutton Foster, and she wrote the theme song for Julie Andrews’ Netflix series “Julie’s Greenroom” as well as many songs for “Sesame Street.” She co-wrote the opening number for the 2018 Tony Awards. She earned a Lucille Lortel Award nomination as Mary in the Off-Broadway run of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, and appeared in the original cast and on the cast album of Hadestown at New York Theatre Workshop. She has an ongoing concert residency at Joe’s Pub and her two solo records, “Visitors” and “Die Happy,” are available at www.shainataub.com.

Hattie Claire Andres (she/her) is elated to collaborate with the Public Works family again, previously working on As You Like It, The Odyssey, and as a teaching artist. Hattie is the Artistic Associate at Seattle Rep, Festival Producer for One Coast Collaboration: a new play festival, and a teaching artist with The 5th Avenue Theatre. Recent directing and associate/assistant directing credits include: Little Shop of Horrors (Pittsburgh Public Theater); Mamma Mia! (Seattle Musical Theatre); Rising Star Project, Annie, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Kiss Me, Kate, Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion, Secret Garden, Pajama Game, Little Mermaid, Man of La Mancha (The 5th Avenue Theatre); Alice in Wonderland, Madagascar, Shrek (Seattle Children’s Theatre).

Steven Tran is a composer, music producer, and theater artist. Previously at Seattle Rep, he worked on the music teams for Public Works’ The Odyssey and As You Like It. Other credits include co-composer for The Last World Octopus Wrestling Champion, arranger/orchestrator for Howl’s Moving Castle, music director for Lizard Boy at NAMT, and various music credits at The 5th Avenue Theatre, Village Theatre, and Seattle Musical Theatre. Steven is the playwright and performer of The Sonata Years, a solo-memoir-meets-piano-recital, which was workshopped through The Other Season at Seattle Rep. Steven has also appeared on stage with Seattle Shakespeare Company and Taproot Theatre. He is currently a composer for Seattle Opera through the 2020-2021 Jane Lang Davis Creation Lab. Other hats that Steven wears: director, teaching artist, and sound designer. L.B. Morse is a designer for the performing and cultural arts, and has designed lighting, scenery, and multimedia for over 25 productions at Seattle Rep. Recent productions include Indecent (scenery and multimedia); As You Like It (scenery and multimedia); Tiny Beautiful Things (scenery); Nina Simone: Four Women (multimedia); A Doll’s House, Part 2 (lighting); Ibsen in Chicago (lighting); The Odyssey (scenery and multimedia); Well (lighting); Constellations (scenery and lighting); Lizard Boy (scenery and multimedia); and The Hound of the Baskervilles (scenery, lighting, and multimedia). He has also designed for The 5th Avenue Theatre, Intiman, ACT Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Tantrum Theater, Strawberry Theatre Workshop, Seattle Shakespeare Company, On the Boards, Lingo dancetheater, Maureen Whiting Dance Co., and Empty Space, among others.
