Justin Huertas is a Seattle-based, award-winning playwright, composer-lyricist, and actor. His original musical Lizard Boy had an extended world premiere run at Seattle Repertory Theatre (4 Gregory Awards, 2 Seattle Times Footlight Awards) and a second production at Diversionary Theatre in San Diego (Craig Noel Award). He wrote music and lyrics for Book-it Repertory Theatre’s adaptation of Howl’s Moving Castle (Book by Myra Platt). Justin is currently developing several original musicals including Lydia and the Troll (with Ameenah Kaplan, for Seattle Repertory Theatre), The Last World Octopus Wrestling Champion (for ArtsWest Playhouse), and The Lamplighter (with Sara Porkalob and Kirsten deLohr Helland). Acting credits include Lizard Boy, The Odyssey (Seattle Rep), Caught (Intiman Theatre), Everybody (Strawberry Theatre Workshop), and Legally Blonde (Showtunes Theatre Company).

Graduate of the AAU Film School with a BFA in directing. She attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for acting. Currently, she is the Resident Director for Disney’s The Lion King North American Tour. Other credits include ABC’s Encore!, The Wiz for First Stage, Our Country’s Good at American Players Theatre, Meet Vera Stark at Purdue U., How to Break for the Village Theatre, The Royale at ACT Theatre, and Bash’d for Celebration Theatre. She has twice directed for Noah Wylie’s Young Playwright’s Festival. She’s directed two shorts, Man with a Movie Camera and the award-winning The American Failure. She originated the choreography for The Royale at the Kirk Douglas Theatre and for The Dancing Granny at the Alliance Theatre. She has choreographed for ABC’s Encore! and Dancing with the Stars. She is the recipient of Gregory, Ovation, Sherwood, Queen of Angels, and multiple NAACP and LA Weekly awards for choreography, fight choreography, and directing.
