A Note to Our Community

It’s been months since we closed our doors, and during this strange and challenging time, we’ve learned an important lesson.

Creativity cultivates resilience. We see it every day in our dedicated staff and artists, who have joined together to create new artistic experiences to share with our community. From virtual acting classes and book clubs to stagecraft podcasts and artist conversations, they continue to develop programs that reflect and elevate the diverse cultures, perspectives, and life experiences of our community.

This hum of activity and our plans for the future keep us focused on brighter days ahead, despite the difficult decisions we’ve had to make. After much deliberation, it has become clear that we can no longer proceed with our 2020/21 season as scheduled. The challenges of producing safely amid a pandemic continue to evolve and so must we. We are working tirelessly on our return to the theater, a space that we will reimagine to meet the current public health needs.

Meanwhile, our work continues offstage and online, where we remain committed to our vision of “Theater at the Heart of Public Life.” In March we began launching an array of virtual programs and the enthusiastic response has been heartening. Through our Creative Conversations, Masterclass Mondays, (Re)Imagine Theater panel series, and more, we are pursuing new opportunities to connect, create, and invest in the future.

Your passion for our mission is the only thing that can sustain the theater through the challenges ahead. If you have been inspired by Seattle Rep, please consider making a gift to support our current programming.
