New Works Reading: The Man in the Red Hat
Feb. 2026
The Man in the Red Hat is a raw, intimate play about a young journalist covering a volatile presidential campaign when the trail cuts through his Pennsylvania hometown. Over the course of a single night, he is forced to confront family, identity, and the truths he’s spent years avoiding in a deeply divided America. Written by Kevin Cirilli, former Chief Washington Correspondent and one of the earliest journalists assigned to cover Donald Trump’s improbable 2016 presidential campaign, the play strips away the veneer of television news to reveal the human cost beneath the headlines.
