We want you and your students to experience theater to the fullest! Seattle Rep supports Student Matinee ticket purchasers by providing: 

  • Two complimentary preview tickets for Educators so you can see the show ahead of your students
  • Pre- and post-show in-school residencies for select productions, with a Teaching Artist visiting your classroom to engage students in curriculum tied to the play
  • A printed Youth Guide that ties the themes of the play to today's world and offers activities, resources, and more. All students participating in in-school residencies or attending a Student Matinee performance will receive a Guide.
  • Plus, all shows at Seattle Rep meet the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) state standard!

    Content Advisory: This family-friendly show features an easy-to-follow storyline and contains no profanity, and includes themes of bullying and mature topics (such as body image issues and AIDS) dealt with in age-appropriate ways.

    Content advisory: Seattle Rep recommends Come From Away for audiences ages 10 and up. This show is generally family-friendly with some mild language, brief adult moments, and mature topics, including discussion of the events surrounding 9/11. The longer runtime (approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes with no intermission) may be less suitable for younger audiences.

    Content Advisory: · Strong language and heavy, mature themes, including chronic illness and mortality. The compact runtime (approximately 90 minutes with no intermission) may benefit viewers with shorter attention spans, but younger audiences may struggle to engage with the emotional weight of the material.

    Appropriate

    Smart, incendiary, and never before produced in Seattle, this award-winning play depicts a Southern family wrestling with a destructive inheritance as they consider the legacy they want to leave for the next generation. Read more »

    Age Recommendation: 16+

    Content Advisory: Strong language, including profanity and racial slurs, and directly confronts the legacy of racism in America. This play explores complex family dynamics, including grief, addiction, abuse, mental health, and the impact of generational trauma. The characters’ confrontations are emotionally charged and may be unsettling for younger viewers. There are references to sexual situations and adult relationships, though no graphic depictions occur on stage.
