In-School Workshops and Residencies help students navigate the themes and ideas of the play and draw connections to the world around them, tailored by experienced Seattle Rep Teaching Artists. These residencies can be pre-show or post-show.
Program Objectives
When your students join us for a Student Matinee, they are able to:
- Exercise empathy
- Relate to different communities and cultures they may not be exposed to on a regular basis
- Gain access to professional theater
- Gain insight into what goes into theater-making
In addition, through in-school workshops and residencies, students are also able to:
- Pre-Show Workshops: Understand the context of the play; Gain an entry point to the world of the play
- Post-Show Workshops: Discuss the most relevant issues in the performance and make connections between the performances and their lives and/or communities; Use 21st century skills to gain a deeper understanding of the performing arts
