Celebrating a Successful Close to Act I of the Campaign for Seattle Rep
Thanks to the generosity and the collective impact of more than 250 donors and funders, we are proud to announce that we met and exceeded the $20.2M goal for Act I of the Campaign for Seattle Rep! We are so grateful to our community for coming together with this inspiring show of support.
The investments made possible by our Act I initiative have been aligned with Seattle Rep’s core values: artistic vitality, sustainability, and generous and inclusive practices.
Artistic Vitality
With your help, this Campaign sustained Seattle Rep’s investment in artistic vitality over the past five years. As we weathered one of the most challenging periods in the history of American regional theater, Act I support made it possible for us to maintain the same high caliber of production values for which Seattle Rep is known, while also launching commissions and world premieres that continued to expand the canon. Thanks to donors, we were able to create compelling artistic experiences that would renew and grow our family of theatergoers.
Sustainability
Through Act I, we’ve also enhanced organizational sustainability by creating a $1M operating reserve fund and by adding $2M to Seattle Rep’s endowment, which provides recurring income to help ensure a thriving theater for generations to come. Together these resources will give us the flexibility to innovate and pursue ambitious projects while strengthening the security of our annual operations for the future.
Generous and Inclusive Practices
Finally, anchored by public and private grants for capital improvements, Act I gifts from donors supported our investment in generous and inclusive practices by transforming our Bagley Wright Theater and public spaces—the first major renovations to our original facility since it was built in 1983. With accessibility-focused updates to restrooms, theater seating, and the Box Office entryway, we have created a more welcoming and inclusive space for our entire community.
And the final phase of construction is now underway this summer with the redesign of our lobby staircase and newly named Nancy Delaney Alvord Lobby!
Thank you to every one of the community of donors who made all of this possible. Looking at the collective impact of your support over the past five years, Act I of the Campaign for Seattle Rep has truly helped to advance our vision of Theater at the Heart of Public Life.
