All the Way is part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s 2012-2013 season. The play focuses on Lyndon Baines Johnson as he is catapulted into the presidency. A Shakespearean figure of towering ambition and appetite, the charismatic, conflicted Texan hurls himself into Civil Rights legislation, throwing the country into turmoil. Alternately bullying and beguiling, he enacts major social programs, faces down opponents and wins the 1964 election in a landslide. But faraway in Vietnam, a troublesome conflict looms as politicians and civil rights leaders plot strategy and wage war, which sets the stage for The Great Society.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Seattle Rep commissioned All the Way and The Great Society, respectively. OSF company members Kenajuan Bentley, Peter Frechette, Christopher Liam Moore, and Jack Willis joined a cast of Seattle actors in both readings. This was the first public reading of The Great Society.
