Scott’s Notes: A personal favorite of mine, Good People introduces a number of complex characters in some wonderfully “high stakes” situations. A single mother facing economic ruin and her ex-boyfriend—now a successful doctor who has turned his back on the South Boston neighborhood where they both grew up—renew their acquaintance. Good People is one of the more timely and resonant plays of the season. Student audiences are sure to respond to this achingly human and nuanced modern play. Great choice for aspiring writers, Social Studies or current event classes.
