Your contribution to our Annual Fund will directly support all of Seattle Rep's artistic programming, making it possible for us to present a broad range of work on our stages. From You Can't Take It With You, a classic American comedy, to The Night Watcher, a new play by Charlayne Woodard, the myriad of exceptional plays offered in the 2008-2009 season promise to entertain and engage our community's passion for theatre.
We also welcome gifts in support of the following programs:
World Classics Shakespeare. Moliere. Shaw. The Greeks. Iconic playwrights whose dramas transcend history, time, and place and continue to resonate with modern audiences. These works often require extraordinary resources - large ensemble casts, challenging period design elements and enhanced opportunities for young people to experience the masters. This season You Can't Take It With You and Waiting for Godot offer incredible roles for actors in all facets of their careers, be it the local ingénue making a Seattle Rep debut or a seasoned professional tackling the role of a lifetime.
Arts Education in the Schools Make a gift of theatre to our community's young people. This season Seattle Rep's education programs will introduce over 7,000 students to the power of theatre through student matinees, teaching artist residencies, playwriting workshops, and acting classes. We also train teachers to use theatrical techniques to make subjects come alive in the classroom, and we provide 14 post-college interns the opportunity to bridge the gap between academia and the world of professional theatre through our renowned Professional Arts Training Program.
New Play Development Your generous contribution allows us to commission new plays and develop premieres that will be the classics of tomorrow. We are committed to commissioning three to five established and emerging playwrights annually in order to ensure a regular diet of world premiere productions on our stages each season. From young, up-and-coming playwrights to established masters, Seattle Rep is home to important new works that will stand the test of time.
