As more donors give through Family Foundations and Donor Advised Funds, we have received many questions about how such gifts must be transferred to be acceptable under current tax laws. Neither Family Foundations nor Advised Funds can be used to satisfy binding personal pledges of gifts to a charity. Also no benefits can be given in receipt of a gift from a Foundation or Donor Advised Fund to an individual.
