The text of Another American: Asking and Telling is based on the transcripts of interviews conducted over
a three-year period. The monologues are created from the interviewees' actual words. Where appropriate,
names and places have been changed.
Originally produced in New York in association with David Marshall Grant.
Another American: Asking and Telling was presented as a workshop by New York Stage & Film Company and the Powerhouse Theatre at Vassar in July, 1999. This project was developed in the Resident Artist Program 1998 of Mabou Mines/Suite, and was performed at the Provincetown Repertory Theatre in August 1998.
