Young Voices

A key element of our mission is to embolden youth voices and nurture young artists. Why embolden? This action verb means to make bold or bolder–to hearten or encourage. And that’s exactly what we do. We listen. We laugh. We make plays together. And the results are pretty amazing. So, in between coming to the plays in our season, join us for our student works–you may be inspired by what they have to say. Call the Box Office to reserve your seats.

Next Up: Roosevelt High School Playwriting Project
Don’t miss four world premiere plays from some of Seattle’s freshest theatrical voices. Four young playwrights from Roosevelt High School have endured our "Playwriting Boot Camp," and the hilarious, inspiring result comes to our Leo K. stage under the direction of Seattle Rep teaching artists with student actors.

Coming This June: Drama Intensive
In the spring we welcome students of The Center School into our house as they design, build, and perform in a brand-new, full-length play. Past productions have included a Restoration Comedy (School for Scandal), an acrobatic-filled circus drama (Pants on Fire), and a musical about ancient Greece (Boxes). Last year’s production featured an original adaptation of Shakespeare's most famous play–Hamlet. This is what Jolene Obertin, Properties Coordinator for the Rep had to say about the show:

“I laughed until I cried. The energy onstage was infectious. I walked out of the building last night excited and full of energy.  I know I will find the time in the future to see the education department's shows.”
