A Reading of The Lucky Chance: April 14, 3:30 p.m. • FREE Join us to hear a reading of the lost classic The Lucky Chance by Aphra Behn at Seattle Rep: Two handsome young studs and two wealthy old men in competition for two gorgeous young ladies—and the race is on! Unproduced between 1718 and 1984, this play was considered very good but "too indecent to be ever represented again." Since Aphra Behn's plays were certainly no more scandalous than others of that age, she must have been an early victim of the double standard that doesn't allow women the same freedoms as men, artistic or otherwise. We invite you to hear the play and judge for yourself.
Sign Interpreted Performance: April 14, 2 p.m. American Sign Language interpreted.
