Every play you’ve ever loved was once a new piece of work – rough and in development. It needed support. It needed rewrites. It needed time to become something great. And it needed a theatre to believe in it enough to say yes, the world should see you.

The Seattle Repertory Theatre is committed to discovering and nurturing playwrights and their work. Our New Play Program offers the perfect balance of passion for the creative process with the resources needed to help bring the next great American play to life.

As artists, we get a thrill out of discovering writers with fresh voices, offering old friends and new talents a home, trying out new work on stage and attracting the attention of the larger arts community with world premieres.

And we love that we get to introduce plays to Seattle that we know audiences here will connect with. As we carefully curate what we support each year at the Rep, local writers and stories based in the Northwest always win a special place in our heart. Our seasons will always offer the well-known and well-loved plays Seattle wants to see, but we’re also 100% committed to helping grow the next great works right here.

We hope you join us.
