INSIDE THE REP
AUDITIONS
General Auditions
Seattle Repertory Theatre participates in the annual general auditions organized
by Theatre Puget Sound. These auditions are an important opportunity for Seattle
Rep's artistic staff to see and stay current with the work of local actors.
The dates for general auditions and procedures to apply are announced at
least one month in advance in local newspapers such as The Seattle Times and
P-I, Seattle Weekly and The Stranger; on the Equity Hotline; and on the Theatre
Puget Sound Web Page.
Separate audition dates are held for Equity and non-Equity actors. Audition
appointments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. When the appointments
have been filled, the remaining actors are put on a waiting list and seen,
if possible, on a time-available basis throughout the production season.
Throughout the year, Equity actors visiting from out of town are welcome
to request an audition appointment by calling the theatre: (206) 443-2210.
Auditions are scheduled on a time-available basis.
For the general audition, please provide an 8"x10" photo and a current resume.
Present one monologuecontemporary or classicalof no more than
three minutes in length.
Production Casting
The Seattle Rep artistic staff, in consultation with directors, invites individual
actors to read for roles in specific productions. These auditions are held
throughout the year on an invitation-only basis.
Actors invited to audition will be provided with sides. Production scripts
may be checked out from the reception desk at the Seattle Rep stage door on
Warren Street.
For the audition, please provide an 8"x10" photo and a current resume. (Even
if the Rep has your resume on file, it is helpful for us to have an additional
copy for the director of the production.)
Out-of-town casting
Seattle Rep works with a variety of casting directors in New York, Los Angeles,
Chicago, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Seattle Rep maintains detailed records
on Seattle-area actors. We keep a file of the photos and resumes of actors
who have worked at and/or auditioned for the theatre in the past two years.
It is important that we have current information. Any time you change your
telephone number or union status, please notify us by postcard. Please include
your name, address, telephone number, and email address and mail to:

Seeing your work
Members of the Seattle Rep artistic staff try to see as many as possible of
the vast number and wide variety of theatre performances in Seattle. If you
are cast in a production in the Seattle area, please send us an invitation
card. If possible, one of the artistic staff members will attend. We regret
that it is impossible for us to see everything.
