FORMER ARTISTIC INTERNS
Jessica Barkl, Artistic: 2001-02
I went to Bronxville, NY and got my MFA in Theater from Sarah Lawrence College. I was also hired at two different theater companies- as an artistic associate at Concrete Temple Theatre, and the Literary Assistant at New York Theatre Workshop. I also produced two of my plays in New York City as well as acted in one in the city and at a Shakespeare Festival in Connecticut. I'm still in theater and I've just started a new job at a very progressive arts center down in Albuquerque, NM. I'm working with developmentally/mentally disabled and the elderly. I will be starting a theater company with the mentally disabled and I will be teaching classes to all three populations. I'm learning more about what I don't know and utilizing the skills I do know and offering them to populations that I feel need them the most. (Not that the real world doesn't need theater, it's just that these populations seem to grasp for it and need it more).
Adrien-Alice Hansel, Artistic: 1999-2000
After I finished my internship, I was hired to finish some projects, and then spent the following summer as the Literary Associate at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, reading scripts and providing dramaturgical support for projects. Then I went into the Dramaturgy/Dramatic Criticism program at Yale School of Drama, where I studied for three years, working on new and classical plays. I was an Assistant Editor for Theater magazine for two years and served as the Associate Literary Manager for Yale Repertory Theatre for four years (the three I was working on my MFA and the following year when I was working on my dissertation prospectus.
Last year, I was teaching at Yale, working on my DFA proposal and reading scripts for Manhattan Theatre Club. In February 2004, I was hired as the Literary Manager at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. I dramaturged The Ruby Sunrise by Rinne Groff for the 28th Humana Festival of New American Plays and moved to Louisville permanently in May 2004. Right now, we're winding down our reading cycle for the 29th Humana Festival, (Spring 2005). I've read some 200 full- length plays since April, and maybe 300 ten-minute plays, (we also administer the National Ten-Minute Play Contest). Tanya Palmer and I just finished editing volume VI of Ten- Minute Plays from the Actors Theatre of Louisville, and we're currently working on Humana Festival 2004. In addition, I work on 2-3 plays in the mainstage season and 2- 3 plays in the Humana Festival, not to mention mentoring interns and a number of other administrative tasks.
Stefan Lanfer, Artistic/Literary: 1998-99
After SRT, I spent two years as the Literacy Associate and Internship Program Director at Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, then moved to Boston and the non-profit Project for School Innovation--helping public school teachers share and replicate effective practices. Thanks to great mentorship by SRT's Chris Sumption and encouragements of my fellow interns (several of whom are now running Seattle's Exitheatre), I've kept up my writing. My most recent work was an adaptation of Cry, The Beloved Country, which Book-It Rep produced last April-March. Currently, I'm working on an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Carrie Ryan, Artistic: 1997-98
I moved to Philadelphia where I spent two seasons as literary manager/dramaturg at The Wilma Theater, and then it was off to San Diego for 3 seasons as literary manager at La Jolla Playhouse. Last year I spent as dramaturg and literary manager at Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, and I'm currently freelancing in Minneapolis.
Carolyn Cassleman, Arts Management: 1997-98
After two years at SRT (the first year was my arts management internship with Benjamin Moore; after that, I spent a year as the Grants Associate in the Development department), I moved to New York to begin a joint-degree program, namely, a JD/MFA in Theatre Management at Columbia University. After finishing at Columbia, I moved to Portland, Maine, to clerk for the Hon. Frank M. Coffin, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. I'm now back in New York City, and about to begin working for the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Since leaving the Rep I have built a home in Brooklyn, NY. I stayed with Lighting Design and have assisted and/or been in contact with many of the designers I met while at the Rep. My favorites of which were assisting T.J. Gerckens on Metamorphoses when it came to Hartford Rep, and assisting my mentor Chris Reay on Don Juan at the McCarter.

I started touring with the Missoula Children's Theatre in Sept of '03 and have been touring with them ever since. Last year alone, I worked with over 1,000 children to present an hour long musical to a different community every week.
FORMER PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT INTERNS
Jesse Aasheim, Production Management: 2002-03
After I finished internship, I actually worked in the SRT Costume shop for a couple months filling in as the assistant costume shop manager. Shortly thereafter I moved to Los Angeles to take a job as the Production Coordinator for Center Theatre Group (Los Angeles). I have been here for over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Rebecca Sissel, Production Management: 2000-01
Once I finished the internship program in Production Management, I worked over in the Artistic Department as the Artistic Administrator. I left Seattle Rep in March of 2003, and am now in Grad School at The University of Iowa earning my MFA in Stage Management.
FORMER SCENIC ART (PAINTS) INTERNS
Gwen Komala, Scenic Art (Paints): 2000-01
Ultimately, after bouncing around a bit, I'm in Portsmouth, Virginia. I did summer stock painting work as the charge artist in Massachusetts and St. Louis before ending up out here, where I've been freelancing. Most of my work out here has been at three different places- a local scenic studio that does roadshow sets, theater, opera, ballet, and some random convention displays for companies around the country; Virginia Stage Company, a non-profit in Norfolk, VA; and New Dominion Pictures, a small TV studio that does cop and detective shows for Discover and National Geographic channels. I've done some set dressing manufacturing for a feature film being shot in Williamsburg, and I'm hoping that might lead to other film industry work and some more painting.
FORMER STAGE MANAGEMENT INTERNS
Stacey Roberts, Stage Management: 1999-00
I worked as a non-union ASM/PA at Seattle Children's Theatre, Intiman, the Rep, and Seattle Opera. I stage managed OBON at the Rep and The Spoleto Festival. I got my AEA card with Nickel and Dimed at the Mark Taper Forum and my AGMA card with Madama Butterfly at Seattle Opera. I am now the Education Events Manager at Seattle Opera. I bought a house in Ballard and love living in Seattle!
Lindsay Beacham, Stage Management: 1997-98
After Seattle Rep, I went down to ASM at Shakespeare Santa Cruz, then off to The Alley Theatre in Houston, TX for 2 years as a production assistant, then to Houston Grand Opera for a year as a production assistant. After that, I went up to Chicago (which is where I live now). While here, I was fortunate enough to get a job down in Gainesville, FL at the Hippodrome State Theatre, where I got my Equity card, and have been Equity stage managing in Chicago and Florida since then. I've been lucky enough to have stage managed at Steppenwolf, Lookingglass, American Theatre Company, ASMed at the Court Theatre, and SMed at several other smaller companies in town.
Laura Ruderman, Stage Management: 1992-93
She went on to work for Microsoft and has served as a Washington State Legislator for the past six years. Laura recently ran for Secretary of State. Although Laura has moved on from the world of the Rep, she says she misses her "little office under the stairs"!
